To be the "first real attempt " and have had limited options i must say this turned out fantastically welll!! Wht i want ot highlight is that you have a perfect tecnique, you have demonstrated that you have what is needed to do this kind of art.
Your Handy work with the markers is remarkably awsome, you managed to do a lot. The sahding is fine and the tones and coloring is perfect, the line art is clean and perfect. Each character is a fine selection for who they are and that you choose two of my favorite comic heroes!!
The background is another positive point, it is not too crowded but has enough details and helps to complete each character and some bit of their story.
Also how you designed this whole thing is what makes it stand out more not only the colors and the character but also the idea. Yes it is a common concept but like this i have seen few!!
